In particular, drummer Macky Bowman is a monster, whipping up a percussive storm.
Radio New Zealand, Skin Suit Review
Macky Bowman has been putting the dick in ridiculous for years. Known for equal parts skill, tenacity and gumption, he brings the correct mood to whatever project he’s working on. Delivering the punkest of rock when playing with The Bobby Lees or Jon Spencer, or exceptional holiday flair alongside the likes of Kate Pierson, Gail Ann Dorsey, and others at Levon Helm’s Studio as part of Elizabeth Mitchell’s Sounding Joy, he always finds the right pocket.
Macky’s first band, Porcelain Helmet, was a thrash metal group that was awarded a Battle of the Bands win by Scott Ian of Anthrax. One track off of their solo album appeared in Violet, starring Olivia Munn, Luke Bracey and Justin Theroux, and directed by Justine Bateman.
Macky joined The Bobby Lees at age 16 as a session musician and the members gelled so well they made it official. They’ve had songs appear in ABC’s The Rookie, and feature film Ida Red. With the support of Jason Momoa, their fourth studio album, New Self, will be released on Epitaph Records in 2026.
Most recently Macky has been on tour and recording with the legendary Jon Spencer. Sick of Being Sick came out in 2024 and Songs of Personal Loss and Protest will be released in 2026.
Macky lives in Woodstock, NY and loves to play music. Hire him.
